I've been thinking ahead about what 'new gun' I'd like to have...something special.
Based on what I've written below, would you please give me some feedback on the 11-87 Premier Super Magnum ( or the regular 11-87 if you can ) ?

Looking deep into the gunsafe --- bewildered --- there wasn't anything BLUE & WOOD looking back!
I've got a Browning BAR MkII Safari / 7mm Rem.Mag. / B.O.S.S. that had outstanding wood and beautiful highly polished blued metal, but I took the wood OFF to preserve it and replaced it with a Bell&Carlson stockset.

Now that I've reached 50 YEARS OF AGE Eeker , I want to, uh, 'reward' myself with a nice, new, shiny GUN~! cheers
My focus has been on Remington rifles.
For shotguns, I have an 870 Express Super Magnum PUMP, and a Beretta 1201FPG3 Military&Police 'inertia operated' AUTOLOADER.

Both of these guns are 'black'.
Both of these guns have the safety at the back of the triggerguard.

I'm thinking a gas-operated autoloader with nice wood & blued metal would be something I could use at the shotgun range that I would be familiar with and love to own.

Thanks for the help!

I absolutley love the Remington autoloaders I have one in 10 gauge, 12 and 20 and am in the process of completing my collection with a 28 sporting and 410 sporting. All of the premiers I have seen have great blueing and really nice looking wood, my 20 gauge is no exception. In my opinion you won't find a nicer looking more dependable gun for the money.

Good Luck

BPrelger,

I've taken a lot of flack ( some deserved... Big Grin ) for my love of Remington rifles.
It's nice to see someone else that is 'completing a collection' of Remington long guns, be they rifles or shotguns.
Good luck with your quest; post some pix sometime!

Is there an issue with the 11-87's and FTE? or is that only with the 3.5" guns?

I don't want to get a finicky gas-gun.
If the 11-87 is reliable, great.
If there's a problem with the system, or one model, I'd like to know.

UPADATE---

I decided to get the 1100 Sporting 12 instead of the 11-87 Super Magnum.

I wanted a light & fast 'nice' shotgun, and the Sporting 12 fits that role better.

Check Remington's web site. They're coming out with a Model 1100 Competition... Nickle receiver, very nice wood, looks beautiful. I sold my old 1100 (along with some other stuff) to get a new Beretta 391 Gold Sporting, but I may have to add a 1100 Competition to the collection soon.

BOTTOM LINE: I got my nice wood & blue shotgun!
It looks quite similar to this one ---

I went in looking for another Remington and came out with a Browning.
It made more sense to get this Japanese/Miroku Browning Auto-5.
With the wood back on my BAR, it now has a 'safe-mate'.

Browning Magnum Twelve. 30" bbl.
Made in 1986.
98% gun.

Classic design ... "WOOD & BLUE" ... what I really wanted. Big Grin

I sold two rifles that were no longer 'needed' nor as desirable to me as this shotgun idea.
Both rifles are in good hands ( I like to think, so I can sleep at night! ).
The shotgun is now in MY hands, and I like to think that is good, too! Wink

THANKS for the help, Gents.
I altered my perception of what I was REALLY wanting and got it in spades!

BusMaster007,

Congratulations. I have an A-5 that I bought from the original owner who had bought it in 1956 with the original box and two barrels. I just love it.

You will love your gun too. Cheers!

Thanks!
I flopped around for about a week, but I think I made the right choice.

BusMaster007,
I was about to suggest that you look for a shotgun made on your birth year. Sounds like Mehul has it. I was going to suggest a 1956 Superposed Browning. BTW, you are just a kid, I think I have sox older than you, lol.

You will like that shotgun. I bought one about 3 weeks ago after admiring them for a long time. I paid $275 for it in a friends gun shop and promptly took it home and stripped it down and cleaned all the parts and lubed it. Mine is a 28" fixed Modified choke but I am going to have tubes installed. It could be an excellent pheasant gun.

Customstox,

It's funny, but I've been noticing the last couple of years WHAT was made in 1956 ---
.44 Mag.
.458 Mag.
--- probably a few other things like that, but it did catch my eye.

I'm going to dedicate this gun to shooting lighter loads and just enjoy it for the nice piece of work that it is.
Browning has always been a 'world' gun, so the Japanese connection doesn't bug me at all.
If one wanted to shoot 'steel' in a Belgian Browning A5, a Japanese bbl. is required.
Still making it a 'JMB' World Gun.

Thanks for the kind encouragement. Cool

I really like the remington autoloaders. I've got a model 48 (my first autoloader), 2 11-87 sporting clays, an 11-87 Priemer trap from the custom shop, and a SP-10. never had a lick of trouble from any of them.
go ahead reward yourself!

my friend has an A-5. I love shooting that thing. One day it would be great to pick one up. I love that style too.
