slug gun question
can I shoot buck shot through a rifled shot gun barrel without damage?

damage to the barrel won't occur. damage to the buckshot will and their will be almost no pattern. i tried it several times with different barrels and buckshot loads and it brings a new meaning to "spreader loads".

max(hm2) is right, the rifling acts as a centrifuge throwing the shot out away from the center.

Yep And it might lead up the rifling a bit too although I haven't tested that out for sure.

a load of buckshot fired at an open door from 20feet can entirely miss the open door.

The pellets will hit the floor ceiling and walls on either side...

No, it won't damage your barrel. Yes, it will make a mess inside your barrel (excessive leading).
