Wondering if the stock mounting is the same for Red Labels with the Pistol Grip stock as those with the English straight stock? Any thoughts on the value of the 1 of 500 "Golden Quail" model from about ten years ago? I think its actually 1 of 1000 in that 500 each were made in 20 and in 28 gauges. I've never owned a Red Label and am curious about them.

I own a RRL w/ English style stock and have taken the butt stock off few times to inspect/lube the internals and only a guess, but would think the pistol grip style butt would fit. However, problem is that I don't think Ruger will sell just the butt stock?? They are pretty insistent that you send it back to them for "repairs." Ruger does no custom work of any sort on their products so you could tell them that your English style stock is cracked/broken, etc. and send it back to them but most likely they will put back on whatever the shotgun had on it to start. Ruger Service will answer your question with a call.

There seem to be quite a few Ruger RL buttstocks floating around out there on the market on ebay or Gunbroker, etc., for whatever reason, so I hadn't considered buying from Ruger. From the appearance of the stock tangs, I assume that the stock is mounted with a through-bolt, meaning that either stock probably fits. THanks for your insight.

Usually the only difference is the configuration of the trigger guard. There might be a difference in the shape of the two. And maybe not. 8've never had a straight stock RRL, but I had an English stock Gold Label and it was just about perfect for me.
