hey all, which would be better, the 11-87 super mag, or the 870 super mag? i will hunt deer, and turkey with it mostly, and maby some coyote if i can get em in close enough.
and how bad is the recoil of the 870 super magnum with a 3.5 inch mag in it?

Go with the 870 for deer and turkey cause in most cases you aint gonna get a second shot anyways.

I shoot an 1187 for everything from clays to geese to turkeys. The gas operation tames the kick to something soft enough so even my buddy's 12 year old can shoot it comfortably.

On the other side of the coin, another friend wanted help scoping an 870 with 3" slugs. I shoot a lot, and I mean A LOT so he wanted be to fine tune his adjustments. Well, it kicked hard enough that I didn't want to shoot it again. My 10 ga doesn't kick as hard.

The auto isn't much more to maintain over the pump but does cost a bit more. I think the added cost is worth it. Good luck with what ever you choose.
