Can anyone here tell me the age/year of manufacture of a Browning Auto-5 I just bought? The SN is 250754. Additionally, is there any way to find out where it was made? It says "Browning Arms Co St. Louis, MO" on the barrel and receiver, but it also has a lot of different markings on the barrel like a king's crown, etc. Thank you very much. 8mmFan

Your A-5 was made in Belgium.

If you'll look on the Browning website there is a section that tells you how to interpret serial numbers and the exact year of manufacture for those numbered with letter codes. I think you'll find that your "St. Louis" model predates this period, so you can only get a range of years in which it was produced.

Thank you Stonecreek. I actually called Browning today and got the year and place of manufacture. They will actually put together a "history" of your firearm and send it to you for about $40. Thanks again for getting back to me. 8mmFan
