$200 tax to the BATFE Some police departments charge for fingerprints ($20) The silencer is about $600-$800 Some dealers charge shipping and handling and other fees. I make my own for about $20 to $80 plus the tax. Ranb ______________________________ In my opinion the best accessory to put on a rifle is a silencer.

You're not figuring in the cost of the equipment needed to construct a suppressor. George

My local Class II/Class III dealer told me one afternoon that if they were not so paperwork intensive, he could build me a hundred of any model out there for less than $160 doing it batch work-style. Same thing with select-fire conversions, about $225 for the parts and labor. Thank FDR for that. Rich $650-850 out the door and a six month wait for the tax stamp.

$2000 for lathe, welder and other tools. 14 tax stamps. About $40 in material for each silencer. Total cost $5360. Each silencer cost me about $380 with tax material and tools. Still a bargain in the USA. This includes a 510 whisper can ($40) which SSK wanted $2500 for, a 338 ultra mag can ($60) and my version of the Ruger Amphibian which goes for about $1400 online ($520 including gun and tax). A very good bargain, and you can build them to your specs. George

If you're going to suppress both a 9mm pistol and a 9mm AR, you will likely need an extra adapter for the can as the threads on the pistol barrel are not likely to be the same as the 1/2x36 threads on a 9mm AR.
