jeffeossowhich gun for a dedicated rig?
I am thinking a savage stainless 308, accutrigger, and a high cheekpiece stock ...
why savage? it comes the way i think i want it ...
though a tac stock on a rem 788 would also trip my trigger
so
savage accutrigger rifle -= 308
rem 700 police
springfield in 257 or 358 (no real tac stocks available)
built a mauser
??

GhubertIf you want a culling rifle for pigs with the NV and you're not limited by stupid gun laws you could do a lot worse than a semi auto in 308.
I think there is a scaled up version of a AR-15 that you could hang a big magazine on.
If not forbidden by law or convention quite a few prefer a semi on the drive hunts over here.
Take some of the movement out the recoil as well for that night scope you're thinking of using.

Cross L+1 on the AR platform for hogs and other varmits at night.
Pick your poison as far as cartridge-they are adding new ones faster than I can keep track.

jeffeossohmm, the r25 has had my interest awhile now.....
but, in interest of having something to shoot right now, I ordered a mauser picatinny rail
Depends on the range you want to play at.
My 300 acc blk was fairly cheap due to a xtra upper laying around. Every thing I have loaded has been around a moa. 110 at 2450, 135 at 2200 155 at 1800 and 220 subsonic. I got a 16 " barrel, ammo now avaible in subsonic with supersonic loads out real soon. Factory brass and dies now avaible. For a surpressed rifle with 2nd gen nv that's the way to go. My dream tree stand rifle would be a 10" with 1/2 of the can covered buy the hand guard. When I order my can I will also pay for the sbr stamp.
My other pig gun is a 16 socom in a high comb target stock. The 300 is lighter cheaper more accurate out to 100 yards or so. Sub sonic will have to cycle by hand.

jeffeossono can -- on researcing it, they reduce ~30db.. not, at this time, what i want to spend a grand on
The longer the barrel the quieter it will be.
22 sv gets real quite ina 26" barrel.
The acc in a bolt gun sounds like a red rider bb gun.

jeffeossookay .. dollars sometimes win
acadamy, in the woodlands, the new store, has stevens 200s, blue and plastic, for $184.01 walk out. 270win
40 bucks for a picatinny
85 bucks for reloading including dies .. (for non reloadings, i can reloading 270 for about 32 cents a shot, which is $6.40 per 20, using preminum bullets)
hornady 150gr sst at 2200 has a me of 1650ft/lbs at the muzzl, over 1200 at 200 yards, 1" high at 100 s -.3" at 50 and -2.8 at 200 .. a 150 yard zero
recoil, at 9# - EIGHT ft/lbs at SEVEN fps..
bang, bump, flop!
oh, and the gun weighs 6.75 bare -- for 184.01!
i'll spot bed the action, and muffler paint the metal - easier to touch up
I was headed up there to check 'em out, but the price has gone back to original price. Dang!

Blue DogI just purchased several model 12 Savages (various calibers (from .204 to 25-06) not long ago in bolt rifles. The young man I am guardian of is ordering a Savage in .308 caliber, I think that may be what your speaking of RIP.
My semi-auto .308 cal. is a FAL-SA-58 and it is very accurate at the range. Not your everyday plinker for sure but it does give me a good piece of mind in case things go South around hear.

jeffeossoso, got a rifle basix trigger, went into the gun, took about 10 mins, total ...
then took scope off, and acetoned then heated all the metal.. about 250 or so ...
and gave all the metal a coating of manifold satin black paint.. muzzle to tang, and the black metal part on the bolt...
back in the stock, scope back on...
should have painted the stock black too!

RobgunbuilderJeffe-Kel Tech RFB, your Pulsar, Gemtech HVT. Gun is near perfect for suppressed shooting. Even better than my SCAR 17. Cases eject out the front and whole action is enclosed. No AR port splatter to deal with. Best semi platform for suppressed use out there.-Rob
