Forgive me if this topic has been covered previously, but is a suppressor designed for, say, a .223 equally as effective if mounted on a .204 Ruger? I would assume that there would be a slight reduction in dampening efficiency, but is it significant?

Based on experience shooting 'sub-caliber' cartridges in a suppressor designed for a larger caliber (i.e., 9mm and .40 S&W in a .45 cal. suppressor), it will be effective. The dB reduction for the .204 will be less than it will be for the .223 because the .204 bullet leaves more room for gas to bypass the baffles. Of course, if you are firing supersonic loads, only the muzzle signature will be reduced. The bullet will still be supersonic and the 'crack' will still be audible. George

That's a given. I've had very little luck on prairie dogs at 300+ yards with subsonic loads.
