Are you sure on the calibre designation? There are more than a handfull of 72mm case length cartridges in 8mm or fractions thereof but not one that I can locate in 8.8 x 72.

If you could recheck the calibre it would narrow down the number of options a lot .( I appreciate that may not be possible in a gunshop walk-in situation ...)
