Here is a picture of a 81 caliber cartridge given to me by my uncle some years ago. The case was machined and the bullet appears to be almost pure lead. I can only guess it was someone's experiment. A 308Win is shown to compare the size of this beast.

I would think it would be used as a medical device for arm and head amputation by means of detonation.

Looks like a scaled-up rimfire to me . Someone with time and a lathe spend a wet afternoon in the workshop maybe...?

The world is full of these "homers" and toy cartridges and other unaccounted-for stuff . Makes collecting interesting.

I agree, Murray - looks very much like a scale (a very LARGE scale Roll Eyes) model of a .22 Short RF to me. Perhaps it was intended as an offering to a Texan.
