.......ALL GONE......I was at a gun show recently and bought a couple Folgers coffee cans full of brass.
It was mainly .243 and 257 Roberts, but I found 8 cases that are head stamped 250 HP, 5 are REM-UMC, 2 are WESTERN, and 1 has no manufacture stamp, only 250 H.P.
My first thought was maybe they were the first cases that are now the .22-250.
Possibly some of you serious collectors can shed some light on this.
If you're interested in one of these let me know.
I would appreciate your input.

Thanks,
Ed

I think the 250HP is the 250-3000.
Don't know which name was used first

Some info from an online source relevant to your question

The official name when it was introduced was "250-3000 Savage High Power".

Some case heads were stamped "250 Sav" and some "250-3000". But ONLY Rem-UMC marked them "250 HP", something they have not done in a long time.

wow, I havn.t seen one of those in probably 80 years..and Ive gone through a lot of Remington and Peters ammo, but 250HP was a 99 Savage rifle designation at one time and Remington made solid 87 gr. loaded ammo so marked, and was used by Inuit's for seal hunting as was the 25-35 win.. also in a solid. we used them for turkeys in the 30-30 also if Im not mistaken?? The 99 was also available in 25-35 and Marlin the 25-36..so there was probaly a demand for such a bullet.

Your going back a long ways and my memory is not what it used to be but I recall gun stuff fairly good!! old
