Guess it depends on whether or not you like 'em "shiny" or natural. I prefer the natural aged look that comes with time , old cartridges that are shiny like new ones dont look right to me . But each to their own , and you could always lacquer them as well..... ________________________ Old enough to know better

Ouch! Mike, it is almost impossible to do a perfect cleaning job and the result is often less attractive (IMHO) than if they were left alone. Some alcohol, nail polish remover, Hoppe's #9 and very mild abrassive (say bronze wool) will remove some crud. If they are green, they are already partially corroded and stronger measures may be required, but carefully, keeping to the affected area as best you can. If you go to the IAA site (http://www.cartridgecollectors.org/), look in the left hand column on the main page and there is a link to a detailed discussion of cleaning methods. Pay no attention to the krazed Kiwi and his lacquer . . . he's been sniffing the fumes. Some paste wax will do just as well preserving the surface without the loss in collector value typically resulting from the application of lacquer.
