Military 45acp, sealed can
Came across this and thought I would post a pic here and see if anyone has seen any like it for sale. Its a 1944 sealed can of 45 ball ammo. Tony, any Idea of the value? There was another can but it was opened. Here is a couple pics.

LockandLoadEvansville Chrysler Ordnance Plant , IN, manufactured this steel cased ammo from June, 42 to April, 44.
lots of them air dropped to the French resistance or supplied to the Free French Forces.

Hog KillerJag,
Most of the old "Spam" ammo cans will bring real good money, if unopened and good condition.
Very collectable

This was produced at the subsidiary plant of Evansville Chrysler
Sunbeam (note the "ECS") terminology. The second "S" indicates these are steel cased. Value? $100 . . . perhaps more for the sealed can. At present, the boxes are common as dirt. EC / ECS produced a cascade of .45 ACP, mostly steel, 1942-44. Production of this cartridge was scaled back in '44 because the predicted rate of use had not materialized. It is only my surmise, but the flood of this material in recent years reflects the release from some arsenal / NG stores / warehouses. I've never seen any documentation that this was released for combat use by our own forces. Some went out for Lend-Lease, but the majority sat Stateside "against the day" and now is crawling into the daylight.
Well the the sealed can went to a friend who is doing a WWII display. It will fit in very nicely.
Thanks
JAG
