the velodog cartridge was a French invention ( c.1880s) for bicyclists to protect themselves from the ravages of dogs- "veo" fom velocycle , and dog from , well , dog.Much like a centrefire .22LR.
Nowadays you would use a .357 magnum with hp bullets for the same effect.

There are many subtle and minute variations,on most cases. The Swift is no exception. The 220Swift Ackley, boasts the typical minutely tapered case side walls and P.O.'s 40 degree shoulder.

The 220Wotkyns-Wilson Arrow has minimal taper as well, but has a 30 degree shoulder, that isn't quite as jaunty as the typical AI version(as Ackley incorporated different shoulder angles, but is most often associated with the racy 40degree version).

The 220Weatherby Rocket, yet another "mainstream" Swift variation.

Once you start moving shoulders around, you can twist up a myriad of subtle variations. Lots of stuff has been done on the Swift,as it has been around a long while.

I'll shoot you an Email and we'll make medicine.................
