muzza.308 Rimless, Grooveless , match Cartridge
Some years ago - about five , if I recall -I purchased a rimless , grooveless , electric-primed match cartridge on AuctionArms . Reputedly made by B.E.L.L. as a specialised match round for a special rifle .
Does anyone have any information ( other than the aforementioned ) about this cartridge? It has a turned copper projectile extending 1.125" out of the casemouth and a large electric primer( looks like nickeled but who knows..? ).
Only reason I ask now is that it has taken five years to get this stuff home to me in NZ - the joys of international cartridge trading and the internet .Actually this is part of my "California" collection , my "Arizona" collection is sitting in Australia awaiting my next visit to collect that lot and bring it home too.....

I have no idea what that cartridge is but I'll buy it from you.

Can I assume that you asked Teak about it? He knows everything. I just picked up a 22LR Adapter Cartridge from WWII and he not only knew what it was but told me the book and page number where I could find a description.
It sounds like you've got a good one. Good Luck on identifying it. Have you tried contacting BELL, or whatever they call themselves now?

Scary statement there my friend.... just sent Teak an email to help identify a European wildcat calibre that he was having trouble with so there goes your theory out the window.....

All I know on this one is a) it isnt for sale , and b) it is weird . If I get time later in the day I will post a picture.

The Hell he does! Ray, The man's a fraud! He only knows 99.99999% of everything! Or is it 09.99999% ?? I know for a fact he is particularly weak on metric stuff.
Vaguely remember this listing, I think. Don't recall
exactly how the specimen came to be sold into slavery for $42 instead of being kept in the Land of the Free, but IIRC, it had something to do with a certain Kiwi sniper, as I believe someone bid $41 against a lower open and there was no other activity on the listing until the final seconds when the first bidder could not counter, putting a certain Kiwi squarely atop the losing bidder's sh!t list at the time . . . but this might only be a rumor.
Personally, I'm not familiar with this loading beyond this rumor, but I can think of two or three who might be and I will make inquiries on your behalf.
Got pictures? That might help.

Dixie DrifterVoere in Austria made a similar cartridge in .308 and 5.6 mm, only the 5.6 mm rifle was sold in significant quantity.

Hog Killermuzza,
Your picture did not come up. All I got was the box with a red X.
At one time I had a 20 m/m Marquart. It had a bevel on the base and no extractor groove on it. I do not remember the headstamp now but I would guess it is the same era, early 50's.

LongDistanceOperatorHow does it extract?

Grizzly AdamsHello;
Hard to believe, but a lot of 20mm s operate on the blowback priciple, like sub machine guns, so theoretically there's no need for an extractor. I guess in the event of a mis-fire, you just stick a broom handle down the barrel.

?
A very good question , my friend.....
I have no idea , but would guess that the design of the firearm ( and I dont know what firearm that was ) incorporated some form of extractor or ejector.
Anyone know more ?
