A collector friend recently sent me a fired cartridge case headstamped CCI | N | R | 40 TAURUS. It's the usual CCI non-reloadable aluminum case. I searched the Taurus web site and the CCI web site without finding any reference to it. I emailed "cci-experts" and was answered this morning as follows: "A very small quantity of 40 TAURUS cartridges were loaded about a decade ago for Taurus for evaluation. They were concerned that auto loading pistols were gaining market share over revolvers and sought a means to sell more revolvers. The cartridge is simply a rimmed version of the 40 S&W. To the best of my knowledge only two pistols were made; one on a "K" frame size and one on an "N" frame. The guns and ammunition did not reach the public before the project was canceled. Any fired shellcases or empty shellcases had to come from testing in the CCI-SPEER plant." Does anyone have a live example in their collection? Regards, HockeyPuck | ||
