I was offered to buy a 6,5 x 70 Norma and when I got the round it sais 6,6x70 and a N on the back. Does the N stays for Norma? It's not listed in the cartridge of the worlds. It looks allmost exactly like the 7x72R except the callibre and 2mm shorter brass. It looks like a crack in the primer. Is the bullet 6,6mm or 6,5 or what? Its a lead bullet. Does any of you know anything about this round? Thanks ![]()

Dixon Vol 1 p. 75 tells us that the 6.5 x 70 R Sauer cartridge (aka 6.6 x 70R , 6.5 x 70R Nimrod , 6.6 x 71R , 6.5 x 70 , 6.6 x 70 ) was likely introduced in circa 1911-12 , probably by RWS but the first listing in a RWS catalogue is not found until 1928 - listed as a Nimrod. It is shown in a pre WW1 Franz Neuber catalogue and the 1930 Hirtenberger ( Roth case no.937 ). The cartridge was listed by RWS and SBP until at least 1960 , and recently listed by Wolfgang Remy ( with WR h/s ). Dixon also states that this cartridge uses a " thin unique case type ". I have case diamensions and other information in a chart format if you would like a scan of it . Pm me for details . ![]()
