Aspen Hill AdventuresThoughts on Potassium Iodide
With potato joe edging us closer to a nuclear situation I've thought about whether it is worth using PI tablets?
What are you all thinking? I am going to order some more water purification tablets to stop giardia. I do think we are in for some extended power outages.

Bobster https://www.cdc.gov/nceh/radiation/emergencies/ki.htmIt is still stocked at nuclear plants for emergencies. At $25 a bottle, sure couldn't hurt to have on-hand. Certainly enough for at least 14 days per person. That would cover you for the criical time allowing radiation to drop far enough to prevent acute exposure to high levels of ionizing radiation. It only protects the thyroid gland.

...the thyroid gland and only from radioiodine isotopic exposure through inhalation or injection.
Only short courses of therapy immediately after an incident while coordinating evacuation from areas close to ground zero have real benefit.
