I am soooo glad I left. Completely insane. Their politicians passed this. It used to be this crap only happened in Kalifornia. My thoughts are, like a disease, this situation is gonna spread.

We have a national progressive carbon tax, which is driving up the cost of everything to the point people are struggling and it's only going to get worse as the tax increases. Stupid in a country known for the severity and length of it's winters, not to mention the necessity of transporting people and goods over vast distances.

People are really going to wish for global warming. One needs to heat a good eight months of the year in Vermont. They will go after wood stoves and firewood next. Surrounding states will follow this.

For many years in my metal shop I have built pipe, stove adaptors, etc. + just about everything needed for the stove trade, + a few years ago one of my larger customers told me that due to the density of smoke pollution in congested areas, such as the Denver basin that they were passing a federal law to require catalytic converters on new wood burning stoves. I'm not sure how all that played out. One thing that you can bet on though is a sizeable increase on the cost of wood burning stoves + most likely more fees + associated charges.

Yep, most modern wood stoves have a catalyst. They plug up easily and do not make for a hot fire. The ceramic filter are fragile and very expensive when they need replacing. I have removed them from most wood stoves I have had.

I'm sure most of you have gone and changed things on a product that didn't work right or caused a complete PITA. Like tractor seats with turn off switches... Can't stand up on a running tractor to see what's out there. Gawd.

I've drilled a hole and put a drawstring on my riding mower grass flap to bring it up and out of the way in narrow areas and to park it. There are many other things I have altered over the years.

Sometimes I wonder about equipment engineers. I know the wood stove catalysts are govt required but they are effing useless.

They are just a removable insert, no reciprocating saw required. Big Grin
