Our first european hunter just returned from Kyrgyzstan and on day one shot a once in a life time Kyrgyzstan Marco Polo - field score 54-55". This would be equal to a 60" ram in Tajikistan or a 100lb elephant!

For those who don't like the cold, an early season hunt is perfect. The fall coat is however different in coloration as you can see from the photograph to the winter coat. What the Kyrgyz MP lack in horn length when compared to their cousins in Tajikistan they make up in mass.

While we offer Marco Polo hunts in both Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The Kyrgyzstan hunt is much nicer in many ways, below are some of the pros:

1. A cheaper hunt Smiler
2. Lower altitude so no problem with breathing and altitude sickness. In Tajikistan you are gasping for air and most hunters are done by day 2 or 3 and are ready to shoot the next sheep they see
3. A sporting hunt on horse back as opposed to 4WD in Tajikistan for the most part
4. Bigger Ibex as an add on trophy when compared to Tajikistan

What Tajikistan does offer is an average trophy in the 55"-57" range, with a 60"+ ram being a very good one.

For 2012 all our American clients have received their CITES import permits and looking forward to their hunt.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Anton,

It would be a pleasure anytime.

Jim,

Yes it is a very good trophy. Our two other early season hunters also shot their MP, awaiting photos when they return.

Cheers,

Arjun

A beautiful ram for sure. My friend took a 61" ram in Tajikistan last year which was 7 years old.
I wouldn't compare that to a 100lb elephant, but it was also a magnificent animal.

Thanks for your kind comments everyone. The early season hunts are very nice especially for those who cant take the cold and snow of the later season hunts. You will not see as many sheep as you will on later season hunts as they are more widely disbursed and not in big herds. But the flip side is that you can cover ground riding in to remote areas searching for a good trophy. So the early season does produce some very good trophies each year as well! We had two other MP hunters who hunted the early season this year both shot their sheep one was on the smaller side and the other one an average ram. I will post photos when I get them. This is as fair chase hunting as it gets and not every hunter will shoot a monster. A hunter's ability to ride another mile or hump another mountain will make all the difference. Luck is also important in any hunt.

Sincerely,

Arjun Reddy
