Hunting trophies seized in Russia

On 11 January 2009, Russian Customs officers in Moscow's Domodedovo international airport seized a parcel containing the following hunting trophy items: 6 hides, 6 skulls and 6 pairs of horns of Marco Polo Argali (CITES Appendix II), 2 skulls and 2 pairs of horns of Markhor (CITES Appendix I), and single hide, skull and pair of horns of Siberian Ibex. All had originated from Tajikistan and criminal procedings are being instigated against those importing the items. (Information supplied by TRAFFIC Europe's Russian office)
