Just got an e-mail out to Mirbala. I am going the end of October in 2014 for Tur. I am thinking of also doing a Marco Polo and Ibex hunt before I do the Tur hunt since it is a short plane flight possibly.
I am pretty pumped about this trip. With those nasty mountains I guess I am glad I have a lot of time to get in shape!!! lol
Mirbala rocks!! I have very good memories of being in camp with him. He had the best gold plated front teeth ever!! If I recall the last time I spoke to him in Reno at the FNAWS Show I think he had them fixed. My hunt to Azerbaijan is one of the best trips I've ever done. You will have a blast. Make sure that you allow enough time to tour Baku on the way out.
You'll enjoy the hunt a lot. I was over there in july and had an excellent hunt (not with Mirbala). It was personally one of my most satisfying hunts ever. Make sure to hit the gym a bit before you tackle the caucasus...those mountains are something else!!

Thanks guys!! I am pretty excited for this. I just got 2 deposits from some buddies who are coming with me and I am waiting on the 4th that is coming to send me his deposit to secure things. I guess my wife will be happy with the working out that I am going to do. Does anyone know what the weather is like at the end of October? I imagine some snow and near freezing?? I wanted to go when the capes are good. It will make it a little tougher but the 4 of us have hunted sheep in some pretty extreme stuff so I am not too worried about it.
Bwanawannabe- do you have a hunt report? I will have to pick your brain a bit about your trip as well if you don't mind.
Looks like three of us are going this September or early October. Might do a backpack hunt so just working out all the details. Should be fun. Definitely the best bargain in Asian hunting today!
I imagine is will be but I know I will enjoy using my horse to get me and my gear in as far as I can. lol I think I will get as much backpacking as I want the rest of the trip.
