Fred Rich of Texas hunting Markhor in Chitral

Fred Rich of Texas, USA, paid $100,000 to a hunt Markhor, in Chitral. Markhor is a large species of wild goat listed as near threatened. The goat is national animal of Pakistan.

According to Divisional Forest Office (DFO), Wild Life Chitral, Mr. Fred successfully hunted a large goat with 49.5” large horns, under a legal authorization by the department.

He hunted Markhor at Toshi area of Al-Burkhan village conservation (Al-Burkhan VCC) under supervision of Shahzada Mir Hasanatuddin (Shahzada Gul) General secretary of VCC.

Talking to this scribe, Shahzada Gul said that 80% of the total amount received from Hunting trophy will be distributed in local community while 20% goes to the government exchequer. He said that most of the developmental work is done through this fund.
