http://www.huntingreport.com/w...te.cfm?articleid=809 United Arab Emirates Open to International Hunting (posted January 31, 2017) Mayo Oldiri is now booking hunts in United Arab Emirates for Arabian oyrx, sand gazelle, and mountain gazelle. Raquel Reguera of Mayo Oldiri Safaris (www.mayoldiri.com) recently contacted The Hunting Report with the news. Subscribers will be familiar with Mayo Oldiri from its long-running safari operations in Cameroon. Says Reguera, “We have entered into a partnership to promote hunts for the first-ever legal hunting operation in the United Arab Emirates. Clients will have exclusive access to a large area in the Remah Desert with undulating dunes and desert flora inhabited by native game species.” This is apparently the only hunting destination on the Arabian Peninsula. It should be noted that the hunt area is behind a wire. Arabian oryx and sand gazelle are both listed as Endangered under the Endangered Species Act, and Arabian oyrx is also a CITES Appendix I species. We will have more details on this developing opportunity, what contributions to conservation it is making and the possibility of trophy imports in the March issue. Mayo Oldiri will be at the SCI Convention in Las Vegas at Booth 3635/3835. – Justin Jones, Assistant Editor Get important news bulletins like this sent directly to your email 24 hours before anyone else sees them, plus unlimited access to our database of hunt reports and past articles, a special expanded electronic version of our newsletter and more! https://www.facebook.com/mayo.oldiri/ From Mayo Oldiri facebok: First-ever desert hunting of Arabian Oryx, Arabian Sand Gazelle and Arabian Mountain Gazelle in the Middle East! Mayo Oldiri Group, founded by the internationally renowned hunter Antonio Reguera (SCI International Professional Hunter of the Year, 2013), offers twenty years of outstanding experience in the global hunting market, and is a specialist in Cameroon safaris. We have entered into a unique cooperation with the first-ever legal hunting destination in the United Arab Emirates to promote and sell their hunts for Arabian Oryx*, Arabian Sand Gazelle and Arabian Mountain Gazelle. Hunters will enjoy exclusive vast desert landscape preserved over the years. With undulating dunes and desert vegetation, the area is truly a place to experience a time-honoured tradition in line with the conservation of iconic desert species. For hunters who want to take the privilege of being the first ones and ready to go before end of March 2017, special prices are available through Mayo Oldiri. *Note: Arabian Oryx is listed under CITES Appendix I and as “endangered” by USFW / ESA. Arabian Sand Gazelle (or Reem) and Arabian Mountain Gazelle (or Domani) are both not listed under CITES, yet the Sand Gazelle is listed as “endangered” under USFW / ESA. Hence, import of sport-hunted trophies of Arabian Oryx and Sand Gazelle into the United States will be difficult at the moment, even though not impossible. Work is in progress to change this situation within the next few years. Kathi kathi@wildtravel.net 708-425-3552 "The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page." | |||
