Animal hunting and smuggling activities are being carried out in the forest in joint venture of the Nepal Police and Armed Police Force even during daytime, locals added. The security personnel deputed for the conservation of forest are themselves involved in illegal activities of poaching and smuggling, said a local on condition of anonymity, adding 'Wildlife such as blue cow, boar and deer are being hunted in the forests along the Indian border with the use of vehicles like tractors'. Beside this, the timber smuggling has also been intensified in the area. The smuggling activities are being undertaken on the back up of police and forest office employees, complained local residents. Chief of the District Police Office, Banke SP Bikram Singh Thapa pledged to investigate into cases of poaching and smuggling and take action against anyone involved in such crimes.
