Very interesting study on the Astor Markhor and Ladakh Urial.



Furthermore, to formally bring Ladakh urial into conservation mainstream,
especially for ownership by respective communities it is also recommended to initiate a
premium trophy harvesting programme (allow only 1 trophy per year for which a base price
should start from 150,000 USD) of Ladakh urial in GB. Based on current study findings, it is
further recommended that in the upcoming trophy harvesting season 2022/23, trophies can
be offered in Bunji, Danyore-Juglote, SKB, Damote, DMT, Kargah, Minawar and Doyan
conservancies.

Interesting. Given the very limited numbers , this makes sense. It will give the locals a lot of motivation to preserve the population.
