Security forces raided an area in Naushki and arrested the persons when they were making arrangement for hunting the migratory bird. During the raid, the officials also seized four trained falcons, which are used to hunt birds. ARY News added that a person, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, received injuries due to showing resistance. There are also disputed media reports that the arrested Qatari princes were part of a 13-member delegation headed by former Qatari emir Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, which reached Pakistan on Nov 29. Hamad bin Jassim has been in news as submitted two letters to the Supreme Court of Pakistan during the hearing of Panama Papers case in the favour of Sharif family. Hamid bin Jasim called on Nawaz Sharif in Jati Umra and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Model Town and discussed bilateral ties. After the crucial meetings, he along with his companions headed to Karachi. On Nov 30, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued notices to the federal and Punjab governments for allegedly issuing permits to royal families of Gulf countries for hunting the Houbara bustard. Houbara bustard is a rare species of migratory birds, which come from Central Asia in the winter to the arid plains of Pakistan. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has placed the bird on its ‘red list’ of threatened species. Its hunting is banned in Pakistan but the country issues special hunting permits to the dignitaries from the Middle East. https://monthlyboldmag.com/fou...urity-forces-arrest/ Four Qatari princes for illegal hunting in Nushki Security forces arrest December 2, 2017 Monthly Bold QUETTA: Security forces arrested four Qatari princes and three local men from Pakistan’s border town of Nushki for illegal hunting. The security forces confiscated four trained falcons, commonly used to hunt birds. According to official sources, the men were making arrangements for hunting at time of arrest. As winter begins, members of Arab royal families from Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar arrive in Pakistan for hunting the endangered bird houbara bustard. One of the man, whose nationality could not be established, sustained a gunshot injury after putting up resistance to security personnel. However, it is yet to be known whether he was injured by firing of his companions or the security personnel. Earlier this year on February, 16 members of an entourage of the Emir of Qatar were arrested for breaking a barrier of a Levies checkpoint in Nushki district. Official sources then said an advance party of the Emir of Qatar was enroute to Mashkeel to make arrangements for hunting the houbara bustard when it ignored Levies personnel’s signal to stop at their post for checking. The entourage reportedly tried to escape by breaking the Levies barrier. “The arrested members of Emir of Qatar’s staff included three Bangladeshi nationals and 13 Pakistanis,” a senior administrator of Nushki district said.
