Was wondering who you went with and did you go spring or fall,how many bears did you see ,did you harvest a bear and what size was it??

i went two years ago in september, the hunt was a disaster, i shot a BB saw lots and lots of bears, they were every where , but there was no size to them...i hunted in the northern part of the peninsula out of Polana,it was a 6 hr drive by ATVto camp...could have been a fantastic hunt , but the guides must have been having a really off season as every one i spoke to that hunted with this out fit was very bitter...SO BEWARE!!!

The general feedback I get goes along with what M98 said. I've been using the same taxidermist for many years and his business is mostly international. He volunteered in a recent conversation that the trophy quality from Kamchatka that he has seen has gone down significantly in recent years. If you need a brown bear Alaska is still your best bet in my opinion.

Just received my November 2009 issue of Safari Times. There is an advertisement in the paper stating Jim Shockey is leading a group of hunters during May 2010.

No first hand information. But the outfitter ho arranged my Siberian hunt this autumn have been conducting hunts on Kamchatka for 10-12 (?) years.
From what I understand talkting to him, his impression is that the population of big bears are still as good as when he started. Not sure which part of the peninsula. I think it's middle or a tad to the south.

Never been there myself, but he says he's been sending a group each year. And they've been shooting a lot of big bruins. Still when they come back next year, it's plenty around..

Yes, september is not optimal time for a biggest bear.

Petropavlovsk-KAMCHATKA. On August, 4th. EAST-MEDIA - the Bear has killed the woman in settlement Palana of Koryak district. Hers body was revealed the day before at night at local stadium.
