I have watched the first two segments of the Nepal program and have to say it is undoubtably the finest hunting program I have ever seen. A great mix of the culture, the country and terrain and the musings on why and where we hunt plus how we prioritize what we hunt that really hit home with me.

Compared to most of the fare on the Hook and Bullet channels, The Professionals is far and away the best, most intelligent and cogent programming I have seen. And the Nepal episodes set a new high for the series!

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
- Rudyard Kipling

There are very few shows I like but I record all of Jim's, Boddington's and Ivan Carter's. Very seldom do I watch anything else.

I am very impressed! And to say that about a hunting show means a lot. Very good.

I watched Episode 3 last night where they got stuck on a certain part of the mountain. Couldn't go up or back down. Cutting small trees trying to use them as a ladder to get to a ledge above. Had a huge boulder come loose and almost take out the cameraman.

Even Jim lost his composure there for a short bit. That's the real deal there guys.

The show is nice as it films off the beaten path hunts. The filming is second to none, but the story line and narrative is a bit too dramatic in my opinion. A bit too Hollywood, guess it appeals to the masses and like all of us Shockey and crew have to make money one way or the other. In one episode I watched, I think it was in Tajikistan labelled "Terror in the night" Shockey grabs his MZ ready to fend of hoards of Gengiz Khans ancestors, turned out to be nothing more than a drunken shepherd stumbling around!!!

However you see it Asian hunting seperates the men from the boys!!!

Arjun:

I guess I am a boy then. I would not have climbed a couple of those places. Some of those places were pretty much straight up or down.

I think this was one of the better shows. The portion of the first segment filmed in Katmandu was absolutely fascinating.

I love the opening portion of his shows.

I DVR'ed episode 4. I just watched it. All I can say is WOW! Amazingly beautiful & difficult country.

Hats off to those guys. I do not think that I could do it.

In the 90's I shot 2 blue sheep in China. While the altitude was higher (my second was shot at approximately 17,500 feet), the terrain was no where near as brutal. My hunt was a walk in the park compared to what these guys did.

This series is perhaps the best show I have seen.

Larry,

Thats exactly what I meant, those Asian hunts are not for the faint of heart! The steep terrain, bad weather, hours in the saddle, ancestors of gengiz khan, tents, no bathing, no fancy food, etc etc. But it's a true great adventure and the effort it takes to get one of those mountain animals is equal to many many plains game animals.

With all this said about hunting the roof of the world I have this same hunt booked for this coming April with the same booking agent. This is the hunt of a lifetime per my direct conversation with Jim S. The hunt is for Blue Sheep and Tahr. I am going and have had this hunt booked for 4.5 years. The hunter going with me is not able to go. The full price will apply. If anyone is interested enough let me know and details will be exchanged by pm and e-mail.
