Local man hunts ibex in Chitral Our Correspondent Published March 31, 2025 Updated about 16 hours ago CHITRAL: A local hunter hunted a 10-year-old Himalayan ibex in Brep village of Upper Chitral here on Sunday for which he had obtained hunting permit from wildlife department. Arif Shah, a resident of the area, told this scribe that retired Col Sharif Khan was a local hunter, who hunted the ibex with the support of locals. He said that it was the first-ever trophy hunting in the area which was meant to conserve the population of ibex. The department of wildlife has issued 31 permits for trophy hunting of ibex in Chitral for the season. Meanwhile, a 12th grader in a local higher secondary school reportedly shot himself with an automatic rifle in his home in Ghochar Koh near Ayun here on Sunday afternoon. An official of Ayun police station in Lower Chitral identified the deceased as Amjad Khan, whose family had migrated from the border village of Arsoon to Ghochar Koh few years ago. The immediate reason of the reported suicide was yet to be ascertained as the postmortem report was not received from district headquarters hospital. Police started inquiry under section 174 of CrPC to ascertain the real cause of the death of the student.
