I'm trying to get the shipping on my (eventual) bear trophy from Kamchatka back to Italy organized before I go to avoid being forced into paying some absurd amount as I stand in the airport departure lounge.
Well, as it happens they want to try and make me pay an absurd amount anyway!
$2,200 (€1600) is what I'm being quoted, of which €450 is supposed to be for storage with a taxidermist while it dries, then €750 is for the 3 hours leg of the journey to Milan from Moscow.
That just isn't acceptable to me so I'm looking to find an alternative.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Thank for the link!! I have written an email to him and await a response.
Can you give me an idea of what it should cost to bring a bear skin from Petropavlovsk to Italy? At the moment it is going to cost 30% of the whole trip so I will not be booking unless they can come up with something better.
Thanks again.

Hey Express ,I shot a moose in Kamchatka last year. The guys sent it to Pavel in Moscow and they have tanned it for me also. The total cost to ship it to Australia is 570Euro's so that gives you something to work on.Hope it helps tu2

You sure are right Profyhunter!
I just spoke to Pavel and he has quoted me from €720 - €820 to get the bear home from Petropavlovsk to Italy, including all CITES paperwork.

Up until I spoke with Pavel, I was looking at spending at least €2,450 ($3,400USD) to get this bear back here.

I have forwarded his quote to the outfitter, Profi Hunt and told them that unless they will use Trophy Rus Consult and unsure that these are the final expenses I will not confirm the booking.

I owe you a beer Profyhunter! By the way, are you affiliated with Profi Hunt?

Wow, something must have changed in the regulations. I hunted with Profi-Hunt in the spring of 2006 and we just carried our hide and skull home with us in a duffle bag. I think it cost me $90.00 US for the over weight baggage charge.

Bowhunr,

Big difference in EU and Estudias Unidas (USA) laws.

When I lived in Italy I tried very hard to ship my trophies from Namibia to me 3500 Euro and 5 years later no trophies.
