Hey guys.. a thread on the African travel forum sparked me to query this from you guys versed in Asian travel.

Kathi has us booked from here to Kyrgyzstsn this fall on Turkish Air. Chicago-Istanbul-Bishkek-Istanbul- Los Angeles.
How does this airline rate as opposed to say, our own here Stateside or some of the better known and hunter friendly airlines out there. I've yet to really hear anything neg or bad at all..quite the contrary in fact. Good food, gun friendly, great lounges at the ports, etc.

Lets hear how your travel experiences on Turkish Air went. Thanks.

I used Turkish from Norway to Dar-Es-Salam a couple of months ago and it was great!

It was the cheapest option. Very effective flight schedule. Not a lot of waiting, just perfect timing. Almost new aircraft and great service on board. The flight was half full only. And being almost 6' 8" it was a great pleasure to have emergency exit seats all through. Smiler

Can't compare them with your airlines, but I was impressed.

I had a good experience with Turkish Air last fall. I thought their economy seats had a bit more leg room than normal. It was also easy to get flights on short notice without paying inflated fares. I had no luggage problems. Food was fine but nothing special.

I flew them from JFK to Istanbul and then on to Baku for our tur hunt. Great airline with no problems at all! My friend just used them for his Marco Polo hunt in Tajik this year and and the same feelings...great!
On a side note we were able to bring our tur horns and salted capes home with us and they gave us no problems about that either. Have a great adventure!!!!!

Thanks guys! I was kind of readying myself for the 'odor safari", Brice!!
So long as I make there and back in one piece, I'll be happy.

I am really looking forward to being able to bring my trophy back with me.. I am so sick and tired of the pack/dip/ship fees associated with Africa.

I asked a patient today. He's a pilot and flies all over the world. He said Turkish Air is awesome. One of his absolute favorite airlines. New planes, freindly staff, good service, and reasonable food.

May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Turkish Air is relatively cheap, has good service, and most importantly is gun friendly.
If you are connecting through Istanbul, are flying TA in and out, and have over 10hrs (8hrs business) layover they give you a free hotel room and shuttle to/from the airport.

Scott, glad to see you got situated. You're going to a good area.

Thought I'd mention, the airport in Istanbul is very comfortable, quiet, relaxing. One of the nicest I've been in.

Dear Scotty

Flew from Sydney to Istanbul- Bishkek.

Did not have any issues.
Cheaper air fairs was the first time I ever flew Business class. Was the only seat left on the plane.

This was over 10 years ago.

Regards Mark
