Local Hunter Hunts Massive Himalayan Ibex After Intense Trek By Arsalan Khattak | Published Apr 14, 2025 | 2:43 pm A local hunter, Sobor Ud Din, successfully hunted a Himalayan ibex in the Kurbakh area of Ano Gol, Arkari Valley, after an intense trek lasting more than eight hours. The majestic ibex, known for its rugged beauty and elusive nature, had an impressive horn size of 41 inches. This hunt adds to a season already marked by notable achievements. Just last month, a Russian hunter, Alexey Kim, made headlines by hunting a 14-year-old Kashmir Markhor in the Singoor Doke area near Chitral Gol National Park (CGNP). The Markhor, with 55-inch horns, set a new record for the species—surpassing the previous benchmark of 53 inches and 10 years of age. Kim’s hunt, which was the fourth and final trophy hunt of the season, cost $71,000 (Rs. 19.86 million). It was carried out with the support of CGNP staff and local community members who played a crucial role in locating the animal. Both hunts are part of Pakistan’s trophy hunting program, which is designed to generate revenue for conservation efforts and support local communities through sustainable wildlife management.
