Has anyone read "From the Himalayas to the Rockies"? It is a book on the wild sheep around the world. I was curious as to how much is scientific (the description talks about sheep classification) and how much is descriptive and informative? Are there a lot of color pictures? How big is the section on hunting stories? Is it a must have?

I would really love to find coffee table book of wild and sheep and goats. Something that is filled with tons of color pictures on the animals in their natural environment with blurbs on where they are, size, hunting information, and general info. Does anything like that exist?

Thanks,
Alex

Alex,

Check "Memories of a Sheep Hunter" by Rashid Jamsheed. This book is one of my husband's favorites.

Awesome book! I bought it at H&H London in 98 & have read it 3 or 4 times. This guy's knowledge & hunting experience is amazing. Yes he was very well set up & he hunted with the brother of the Shah of Iran (Prince Abldolrazza Pallavi I think) for many years.

Have bought it, but haven't started reading yet. It's supposed to be an update on the older "The great arc of the wild sheep", which is quite good and full of scientific information.

Other books on sheep is "Ovis Ammon" and "Song of the summits". Have both and they're pretty ok!
