Nilgai antelope (blue bull) cows feeding in a trash heap on the outskirts of Delhi, India. The problem has become so acute with over population especially in many states in North India that the local government and some wildlife officials have tried to involve local hunters to shoot them. I know people who have done this and they have dug big holes buried the animals and carried on. While millions of people starve in India!! But these efforts have also been shut down as soon as the media and anti hunters got hold of it. PETA is alive and well in India in big numbers. A nilgai hunt in Texas costs $3,500+. If India allowed hunting with an annual take of 1,000 (very, very conservative numbers) it could directly contribute millions to the conservation of habitat and wildlife.
