Incredible for a humble school teacher who uses an old Lee Enfield (possibly a canabalised version mande from parts at the Indian Ordnance factory).

Certainly looks like he is enjoying himself! That's an Indian made 8mm rifle. 8x50 R cartridge Lebel I think.

Exactly.

Here's how it goes: "Humble school teacher" receives call about troublesome leopard.....arrives on scene as excited as every one of us would be.....places bait....shoots leopard.....accepts acclaim as a hero. Not a bad gig.

My dad shot 2 tigers and 2 leopards between 1951 & 58. They were all cattle killers harassing the villages. My avatar picture is his first tiger. The skill and persistence required to sit up and shoot them is quite unbelievable.

Man eaters are significantly more difficult to hunt as they have lost the fear of man but are extremely cunning and devious. They often stop returning to a kill the next night but make a kill every other day.

This man is a throw back from 70 years ago - and using an old design rifle too.

Got to wonder how he stacks up to Kenneth Anderson. Ken lived in Banglore, and was a govt. worker, but called upon to come and hunt/kill man eaters, or all kinds. He used a model 95 Winchester in 405W. If you haven't you need to get hold of his books and read them. Very good. About a 1/2 dozen of them. One I just looked at is Nine Maneaters and one rogue.. Corbette only hunted right in his area, and left India in the 40s and moved to Kenya.

From what I have heard Kenneth Anderson was a good story teller, his son Donald did most of the hunting. In many of his books there are photos of Donald with animals not Kenneth!

Impressive - but I wonder how many times he got the wrong leopard?
