I'm going to take my 3rd day off since Xmas today and a few more......
Yes, I work WAY to much but I do it for my clients.
I leave for Kyrgyzstan in 12 hours.
I've waited 42 years for this, since I first saw a marco polo sheep when I was 12. I never thought I would ever or could ever have the chance to go...I'm outta here!
Back on OCT 18th. Studio IS OPEN! Call them of you need anything!

Yes, how did the hunt go?
Naturally, we'd all like to see a picture or 2 also.

Just back 2 Ibex 39 and 43. No sheep for me, Details later.
Saw many. Great Area just to early for the big boys to come into the valley .Other Canadian hunter took a 49" sheep last day of hunt. Hunted Ibex at 14,000-15,000+ feet for first 5 days. Was incredible and scary to walk and ride goat trails 4"-6" wide on 60+ degree slopes some greater, with 2,000+ drops you fall you die, scares the sheet out of you. Saw winter kill sheep from 50' to over 65" lying just off the trails. Plenty of Game in the area saw almost 100 Ibex.
Plenty of sheep. Saw a Wolf and many Snow Leopard tracks,Boar sign and fox sign. Rode to the snowy peaks at the Chinese border. Just a little early for the really big sheep to be moving down , Not much snow yet. Rode over 300 miles on horseback during my hunt.
Pics over the weekend. and more on the story.
Now back to my bench and back to work.
Physically did my best for my age and health issues, A-Fib with my heart and Peripheral Arterial Disease in my legs use blood thinners daily, but never a problem with altitude sickness for me. Other hunter got really sick, real bad.

Sorry to hear of your lack of success on the Marco Polo but it sounds like you had an incredible adventure. Can't wait to hear more and see the pictures.

Killing your target animal is just part of the experience, but it should not define your adventure. I agree with sheephunterab, sounds like you had a great time.
Congrats on the Ibex. Even though I've hunted the Mid-Asian's, I have not taken one yet.

Have a blast and when you are there, think if you ever heard any old guys telling you " they wish they worked more when they were younger "
Clients don't care about you, only about their needs.
Get on with your life and I wanna hear soon, that you are booked for couple of hunts in Africa next year or some other place.
You wanna be a hunter, act like one.
Best wishes, Dennis

Sorry about the lack of success on your MP but sounds like you took a couple of nice mid-asian ibex! Heckuva consolation prize and no doubt an adventure of a lifetime. Look forward to your pics.

Thanks guys. Loved the horse hunting. Over 300 miles on horseback for the trip, Not bad for a guy that hasn't been on a horse in 12 years and then only an hour. My wide hips and very bow legs are very comfortable in a saddle.

The guy with me shot a 49-50" sheep the last day. He was 15 years younger than me and is a Part time guide in Alberta for moose and sheep. In much better shape than I am. My fault not getting a sheep. Not the outfitter except for hunting the Ibex first. Ibex hunting first 5 days took all my climbing strength out of me. Should have sheep hunted first but were hoping for the snows to hit. You can always look back and want to change decisions but what is IS!

Dennis is the Canadian Hunter who hunted with you a member of A.R. If so I would like to ask him some questions about the hunt from the Can. point of view.

They tried to talk us into hunting ibex first as well and I have my suspicions why they do this but we were adamant that we hunt Marco polo first. In the end we all ended up taking both but I can see how that ibex hunting can tire you out. It's some tough going.

Dennis, congrats on the Ibex! Wish we could have made the travel line up! The weather was not in our favor.
