Ladies & gentlemen, I present to you the first Ladakh Urial EVER to be hunted legally and entered in a record book. You can see Nanga parbat mountain in the back ground one of the few 26,000 feet plus peaks of the world. It's also called the Killer mountain as it has claimed more lives then Everest due to its shape. The history is finally made as Jason Bruce has become the first man to do this. Now it's Renee's turn to be the first woman to hunt it. It was a bureaucratic and political nightmare to arrange these permits but the revenue generated from this hunt will make sure that no native tribesman ever poaches one for meat, this is how Pakistan was able to bring back the Markhor from the verge of extinction and now we have done the same for the very rare Ladakh Urial. Let it be known that we have only been able to count 64 animals in this area in 2017. Two are being hunted, their DNA samples are collected and the local community is receiving a huge sum of money as a part of the community based hunting programme. I spent 3 weeks in the Indian portion of Ladakh; I recall seeing a lot of wild sheep above 16,000 feet near Stok Kangri.

Those are Bharal - Blue sheep.

Urial tend to be at lower elevations - 12000 feet (????)
