The staff is asking for some donations of hot dogs, hamburgers, buns, chips, condiments and drinks for the event. If those members who are going to help with the youth hunt could bring something for the BBQ that would be great. SJWA staff will do all the cooking.

Scott Sewell also wondered if we could purchase additional pheasant for the hunt. Scott is checking on the cost per bird. Probably need 10-20 additional birds.

Field dog owners/handlers: For those of you who would like to assist with the hunt we will need some dogs and handlers to work the fields for the youth. Take about 3 hours total then you get a free BBQ lunch.

This was the 15th annual San Jacinto Junior Pheasant Hunt. This event is put on by the California Department of Fish & Game (DFG) along with the Riverside Quail Unlimited (QU) chapter.

Lots of smiles and high fives for the junior hunters again this year. There were 39 juniors, we were hoping for 50 but the rain may have kept some home. It turned out to be a nice day after an early morning rain, just a bit windy at times which made for some challenging shooting for the young hunters.

Huge thanks to the staff at San Jacinto WA, the volunteers who brought their dogs to point and retrieve the birds and everyone else who helped out.

Sponsors included Bass Pro and Valley-Wide Recreation & Parks District. Mike Brown also donated a $100 NRA Shooting Class certificate.
