This is our 7th trip down . Unfortunately, neither camera crew is available this year. Unless something happens, there will be no new DVD this year.
We are shooting ducks for 6 days with Argentina Outfitters and doves for 3 days at Los Chanares.

Jeff WemmerGo get'm Larry!
We had a great trip back in June with H&H...Set the new lodge record with 84,000+ in 4 days...Needless to say, plenty of birds (understatement of the century!!! LOL)

larryshoresDamn Jeff, that is a lot of Paloma's biting the dust. How many were shooting?
Personally, I fire 1000 rounds in the morning and 1000 in the afternoon. I can't take much more. I have a Sweet new 410 O/U . I thought about taking it and try shooting all day. Unfortunately, I was advised they have difficulty obtaining the ammo.
We are in the Atlanta airport awaiting our flight. In less than 24 hours, we will be in a duck blind.

PanchoI'm booked w/ H&H, Aug 8-12. I'll let ya'll know how it goes.

We give them several months advanced notice on what quantities of .410 we think we'll need - haven't had a problem to date.

A bunck!!! We had 10 men, 1 woman, 4 boys. 4 of us shot 65% of the take! (I personally shot over 13,000)
26 July 2011, 03:40
larryshoresThat is great shooting. That is a massive number of doves. I am sure it didn't dent the population at all.
We have been shooting for a day and a half after our duck hunt. Lots of shooting. Massive dove numbers. I have take appx 1900 in 3 shoots with 3000 rounds fired. I could have shot more but elected not to. My oldest son has taken about the same number. My youngest has taken slightly less.
One thing I am alway fascinated by is the eagles swooping in and grabbing the doves, sometimes in the air.

Jeff WemmerFantastic Larry! Great to hear the boys came along...Mine is 10 and already shooting Box Birds (Live Pigeons) - now he has Argentina fever! Can't wait to take him and watch his little mind go crazy!!!
we had an 11 year old with us that knocked down over 2000 one day with his little Beretta Diamond Pigeon 28 - was fun to watch him shoot - the little devil shot almost 80%!!! (dang'd kids!!!)

larryshoresThe problem is that it is expensive when kids have the same hunting affliction that we do!
We got back about noon. I am already in the office.
Our hunt was fantastic. Los Chanares is a super nice place. Organized. Nice, hard working people. Great food. Incredible quantities of birds.
Our shooting got much better the last day and a half. The winds died down. My personal best was 1325 in an afternoon shoot. I shot 20 boxes of 410 in addition to what I fired in my 20 gauge. I have to say that I really enjoyed shooting the 410. It knocks them down provided you pick your shots. I could have shot a lot more. I figured WTF? My shell bill was already $9,000 as it was.
I have my gun guys holding me their only 28 gauge Benelli.
I can't wait to go back.

CARLOSTHEJACKALDo ya'll bring your own guns or do you rent? I'm gonna plan a trip for next year and would really like to take my own shotguns.

larryshoresI hate shooting a gun that isn't mine. It is pretty easy to get them into and out of the country although the procedures have changed somewhat this year.
There is a fee per gun that I think is about $75 per gun if I remember correctly.

Jeff WemmerGreat Larry - That was my shell bill as well - and I'll do it again..
I shot my buddy's little MX-410 one afternoon for an hour or so...Man, that is the way to go - like you said, plenty deadly if you pick your shots.
In fact, I got so jack'd about it, I bought 2 Beretta Jubilees with 26 & 30" barrels for my next trip. Had to deviate from my SxS "only" if I want to shoot .410s as nobody makes a decent .410 SxS for this game!
Glad y'all had a great trip!

larryshoresI have 6 of them. I have SBEII's for my and my 2 sons for ducks. We have various 20's for dove. I swear by them.

BEGNOMy son and I shoot Benelli M1 Super 90s. We both have a 12 gauge and a 20 gauge. We also each have Benelli SBEs. My Benellis have been to Argentina, Uruguay, Hondurus, Mexico and of course in the Louisiana duck blinds and dove fields. They are indestrucible. I would not go to Argentina without one. A lot of guys from LA go to Argentina and the recent reports speak very highly of Los Chanares (booked thru the Detail Company) and before that it was the H&H lodges (booked thru Trek International Safaris).

juanpozziI have many autos including benellis ,every shotgun has some part broken after some seasons here .But i recommend berettas -i have several a390,brownings-virtually indestructible-,benellis and remingtons -i never has problems with them even without the orings continue shooting after thousands of shells each season ,both 1100 and 1187 are good for the money.Avoid another marks even itally shotguns ,very bad experience with franchis.

larryshoresI just returned last Thursday. I shot ducks for 6 days with my SBE II. I shot doves for 3 days with my 20 GA Cordoba.
I fired approximately 1,200 rounds through the SBE II. The only time I had an issue was the first day while it was pouring rain and I was shooting those cheap ass RD Caza shells. Once I switched to Fiocchhi, I never had a problem. Not one.
My kids have the same gun. They shot roughly the same amount as me. I think they had one or two cycling problems each.
My SBE II is 6 years old. I think theirs are 4 years old. They go to Argentina every year.
I shot doves for 3 days at Los Chanares. I fired approximately 6,000 rounds in those 3 days. That is a lot of shooting. I never had a jam. I did, however, have cycling issues from time to time. My observation is that when these cycling issues occurred, I could virtually always tell that the action was moving slower than normal. Once the gun was cleaned an lubricated, there was no problem at all. I think it is virtually impossible to shoot 2,000 rounds a day without some issue even if it that the gun needs cleaning and lubricating. This gun is 5 years old.
My kids had similar experience with their m-90's. Those guns are 6 years old.
