We leave July 6th for 6 days of duck hunting in Argentina. I sent my paperwork to Miami based Argentian consulate. I was told that I MUST go to Miami to the consulate to be finger printed. I have never had to do this before.

The outfitter tells me to ignore it. Bring my guns and go to the RENAR (?) office in the BA airport.

This scares the hell out of me.

Has anyone been this year? What is your experience?

Larry

I hunted duck last year in the Santa Fe region and we are leaving on the 14th for Duck and Dove this year. We plan to rent the Beretta 20GA autos again - way easier (albeit not as nice as having your own gun) and not as big a hassle.

We rented guns however your outfitter should handle all the paperwork with permits for you. There is no need to go to Miami as far as I can tell from our paperwork - it seems ridiculous. They'd have no hunters traveling there if that were the case. Given how disorganized and corrupt everything is down there (the airport seems to run on bribes) bringing the guns with the paperwork should suffice.

My $.02.

Paul.

I hear you. I like shooting my own guns.

This was absolutely not necessary last year. Apparently there has been a law change.

I HATE not having my papers in advance and bribing some half wit in an airport.

For what it is worth, I am going to Los Ombues in November. The outfitter has told me the same thing, that I do not need to go through the fingerprint routine here. I'd be interested in how this comes out for you.

Thanks

Brad

I returned from Argentina on Sunday. No problems with gun paperwork, no fingerprints required. Your outfitter should have all the info filled out in triplicate prior to your arrival. Like others said, just go to the RENAR office, wait a little (or a long time) depending on the number of hunters with guns on your flight, pay $220 for two guns, and you're good to go. At least this was my experience, hopefully things don't change.
