Humbled...? I don't know what you mean . I went back out again this afternoon and...it wasn't the shotgun. Dang it. Must be the ammo . Some shotshell manufacturer's getting a sternly worded e-mail about lousy squib charges and light loads. Gotta get to the local gun shop and buy a box of the premium stuff. That ought to do it. BTW -- Just in case it ain't the ammo...how much mashed potatoes will I have to serve with two doves? Let's assume it's just me and my son eating and he's too young for beer.

Had a great hunt on the 1st.(opening day) Six of us had our limit by 10:30. All were local birds except one African ring neck. This bird was twice as big as locals. Went back Saturday and five of us hunted till the rain came. We only took 14 between us. Now waiting for the northern birds.

Two friends and I shot about 18 in about 15 minutes on Sunday evening. It was very dead until about 6:30 and they it was hot and heavy. Last year in the same spot, two of us limited in about the same length of time. It seems like there a lot less doves this year. Have to see how this week goes. You guys got any good recipes? Other than one gallon of mashed potatoes and two doves, lol. Matt, good to see you got your son out with you and he got one though. He had to have one of those ear to ear grins.
