My hunting partner just cancelled out on a hunt that we are/were taking the week after Easter in Uruguay .. I can, and certainly will go by myself, of course.. I am a firm believer in that any hunt that I don't go on ... cannot be done at a later date ... it is gone forever ... I have hunted Uruguay before with a fellow from British Columbia and the bird shooting is world class. I shot 500 shells in less than 90 minutes at doves and pigeons ... The duck hunting is amazing (and I come from Alberta !) ... and there are even rheas if your frying pan is large enough. The trip will be all inclusive except for shotgun shells .. Guns are supplied, food, accomodations etc... $2,300 U.S. for the week ... Oh, yeah .. we'll hunt for about three days of that week for a nasty 1,200 kilo water buffalo bull which is included in the price. Nasty free ranging beasts that are about 6 1/2 hour drive out of Montevideo on the Uruguayan River near Argentina .. Other interesting varmints in the area are caiman, capybara, broquet deer etc... how about Russian wild boar ?? This is an adventure type hunt ... not just non stop bird shooting ... Of course, three weeks is no notice .. but sometimes things like this happen .. I'm flying Calgary/Dallas/Miami/Buenos Aires/Montevideo ... Arriving on Easter Sunday and returning the following Saturday with, hopefully, new tales to tell the two year old grandson ... And unlike last weekend that I already can't remember what I did ... this one will stick ...
