Would like to take my brother out for some geese this winter. Interested in getting into some snows, blues and specks. Anybody know any good guides worth checking out?

I have not hunted waterfowl in Texas..however, I do travel around the Midwest quite a bit and one thing I've learned is there are a lot of rookie guides that pop up every year..a few good..most not.

Do your research and make sure they have been around awhile... a forum like this might be a better place to do some looking.

Prairie Outfitters out of Katy has been around forever, and has a solid reputation. In West Texas you aren't as likely to get snows and specks, though you can get some. Longneck Outfitters out of Lubbock is a great outfitter. He hunts Cranes too.

If I am working, hunting season is too far away to imagine. If I am getting things ready for hunting season, opening day is perilously close.

Captain Will Granberry owner of Avian Skies has consistently put me on doves, ducks, geese, and Sandhill cranes. Cannot recommend enough. Absolutely 1st class operation.
