I am gonna step out on a limb and try this stuff for waterfowl this season. I was going to buy Hevi-Shot Duck, but discovered the big cover-up over at Environmetal as to the different gr/cc of the different types of Hevi-Shot. Nice shot is highly touted over on Shotgunworld.com could be due to them being a sponsor, but "as heavy as lead and almost as soft". How bad could it be?
16ga 1-1/8oz#6@1300fps I'll let ya'll know how it works.

p dog shooterAt 29 dollars a lb I don't think so. 6 lbs for 178.99
I have had great luck with the newer faster steel loads.
I know I can't shoot them in my doubles but in pumps and semis kill things just as well.
At a avg of 100 shots a year the price differants is about 260 dollars a year in a few years thats a new shot gun or rifle.
I guess If I really wanted to my 20 or 12 ga doubles on ducks again for a box or 2 a year it most likely well work fine.

ZephyrNice Shot is a softer shot designed for older shot guns especially those with choke restrictions tighter than mod. Like Tungston Matric and Bismuth it is approved by most of the English manufacturers of fine doubles. I shoot a SXS on waterfowl as well as a Win Mod 12 Duck and have used all the above but find Bismuth to be lacking some. Sometimes when confronted with the extra cost I think the smarter thing to do is buy a modern gun and shoot steel

L. David KeithI have no issues with steel on all waterfowl including the giant Canada's. Kent Fasteel or Winchester are my preferred brands. LDK

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

drewhenrytntThanks LDK. I use a 16ga. There are few if any 16ga steel loads on the shelf that are worth a hoot. There are some other non-toxic loads that I am willing to try. When I gets tired of this I'll go to a 28.

Fallow BuckLDK,
I agree, the Kent steel loads are excellent and I've had good results with them considering the reputation steel gets for wounding and not killinig. I haven't used the Winchester stuff but a coule of mates that hunted geese in Canada said they were superb.
IIRC are they buffered shot?
