What modern shotguns of today do you think will become classics in the future? Not necessarily because of engraving and gold leaf, but based on their quality and class. Previous generations have given us the Browning A-5, the Superposed, Winchester gave us the M21 and the M70 and M94 on the rifle side. I like the old guns that we consider classics today, but I would like to have a gun(s) that start in the family and stay in the family (assuming I have someone to pass them on to someday). Something that future generations could say "Grandpa bought this gun new way back in 2004". What gun(s) of today do you think will stand the test of time and become the classics of tomorrow? Thanks, Bob

O/U's and SxS's IMO. The quality guns of yesteryear still are manufactured today, and as then the price is high. I don't see many pumps or auto's out there that both look good, are handy AND durable. I don't think two out of three of those is the stuff of legend. On a personal note though, I've always felt the O/U's were more of a tool, whereas the classic double is the jewel. That is where my money is headed these days anyway.

I think the high quality Spanish SXS like AyA, Arietta, and Grulla will be sought after in the future. There's just not too many guns produced any more that require that much skilled handwork, at a price a hard working gun nut can afford. ( If he eats a lot of peanut butter sandwiches!) My AyA #2 is supposed to arrive in March I prefer Chunky Jiff, but will eat smooth brand X if I have to! Elmo
