Just got back from my annual 10 day pheasant hunt near the James River. We had a good time. Bird numbers were down but still great numbers for good dog work and shooting. I shot my 1912 Charles Daly 16ga.

Very nice.....I suspect a bad day in SoDak is still better than most anywhere else. My buds just got back from one of the hallowed pheasant grounds in NoDak.....birds were absent, but they drove 50 miles and found some. I guess certain pockets of both states took a hit weather-wise the last couple of years and it's just a down cycle in the population.

BTW, beautiful guns you posted on the other thread. tu2

dukxdog,

Pictures bring back fond memories of many days spent with my dogs in S.D. We hunted the restoration areas 25 years ago and had great hunting. i have hunted with my friend Al on his crp land in Minnesota but the last 2 years the birds just aren't there. I love to see my Lab snap at a rooster as he comes cackling out of the grass and watch her pounce on him as the smell of the burnt powder blows back to me. Thats Living,

Nice work and congrats. Just got in from Kansas today. Things are a little slower there as well.

Just got back from MT.....loads of birds around.....I shudder Wink to think how many more we would've killed if we had my dog. Not exactly "proper" upland hunting but we got the job done.....it was more to fill the middle of the day between deer hunts.
