Three of my friends and I spent 10 days hunting near Mitchell, SD. I've been hunting SD each year since the early 1990's. We found pheasant numbers were down but it's always good hunting just the same. I like walking for my birds and finding where they are hanging out. I took my five dogs and spelled them off so none got really beat up. Ron had his two Labs. The weather was nice with one day of scattered light rain. I shot my 1912 Charles Daly 16ga. I really love this little gun! I loaded some brass hulls to shoot in it this year. They are heavier to carry than my paper hulled shells but make it interesting. My friend Ray is a great Italian cook. Here he is pounding out a pheasant breast for our Rollatinis. He makes a tasty white clam sauce too! Nice SoDak roosters! Well done. On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.
