Another beauty of a New England morning....no snow, brisk wind and 15 degrees but the dogs raised a couple in short order.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

Pounded 'em yesterday.....great fun waiting for the dogs to push the hares round and round in circles.....got 6, plus a bonus shed...3 beagles, 2 swiss hounds were the runners (plus a lab just for the heck of it).

Less than 1 apiece constitutes a 'pounding' now? OK. It must be March...

Couple of the guys weren't toting guns.....and we quit early. I don't know about your experience, but 6 hares in a morning in NH is pounding 'em in my book. Wink

Found a nice shed for these parts that day as a bonus.....

No doubt sounds like a fun morning, but it's kind of like our black duck limit. Fun mornings are common, and often we limit out in minutes as you know, but I don't think I'd ever call one of our outings together where we've both killed our limit of black ducks a 'pounding'. Two just don't qualify. Remember this day? Got our limit in about 2 minutes. Was that a 'pounding' too?

A pile like this in a half hour, on the other hand, does. I think you may actually have assisted on a couple of these. Wink I'm certain, actually. We both know Vito had nothing to do with any of their deaths...

What a lame winter. NO snow, no ice, no good Nor'Easters, no blizzards. Not many birds. Oh, well. Next year. Time to get ready for feesh.

Nice shed, BTW.

Norton the bunny hunting looks like a great time. I always thought hunting with the dogs running rabbits would be loads of fun! Nice to see a great bunch of guys enjoying the days.

Nice Black ducks Gary. I agree it was a LAME winter. Duck hunting sucked this season here.

Norton,

Do the Hares make huge circles or just circle round in the thick stuff like cotton tails?
Reminds me of boyhood hunts with my Beagles after Cotton Tails. Great Fun!!!!!

Big circles, maybe 1/4 mile diameter......they'll run across a trail or road right over their old tracks.....I'm so damn impatient that I'm cursing myself for moving the whole time. rotflmo
