NH coastal opener

A buddy, his dog and I hit Great Bay this am. Did OK. Before first light, waves of ducks were heading out of the bay (probably all the
commotion with duck rigs heading in, etc.). Slogged to our spot under a merciless torment from skeeters (come on first frost), but
got settled in over blocks into what were presumably a couple of shallow skeeter breeding pools.

We called in 3 puddlers (2 mallards, 1 black). They cooperated nicely by coming in locked up and we thanked them by somersaulting them into the salt. We also killed 4 geese. Problem was that Oz, in his early season exuberance, was busy I think watching the flock, and not dropping birds, so we were unable to retrieve all of them, which sucked. *Hundreds* of geese came out of the bay in long shoestrings; no problems getting our limits there. Temps were warm and there were not many opportunities for ducks, so we did
pretty well I think. Hell, my buddy even got a pellet in one of them. :c) He did, however, smash two rooster pheasant after ducks.

Probably back at 'em in the am in a different spot. Will wait for a cold front before heading back to the bay. MA opens shortly. Game ON!

No kings up here (inshore, anyway), but here are a couple pics from this year. Hey, 3 out of 4 ain't bad...

39 lb bass on a live eel.

~70 lb bluefin on a squid bar

Bluefish on damned near anything with a hook.

And one more. Small fish, but we cast and blast early in the season, which is fun stuff. Cod (shown, caught on jig with teasers), blues and bass, and a couple neighboring seaducks. Seen behind is Boston (yes, we bash ducks and nail fish right in the hahbah). This pic is from last year. I'll get one put up with a better fish next week.

Oh, and we do pretty well in the fresh, too. Brookies and a small brownie.
